In which case it is a fine idea. I think context of individual institutions are so varied with some having to see state approval which is an extensive process. I can share my situation. I always was against all entry-level requiring an OTD idea; my intent was to keep Masters as long as possible; once dual-option was proposed there was no question of sun setting the Masters. The rationale is as follows: 1. Despite a successful accreditation of our OTD program, I continue to get 4X as many applicants wanting to do Masters. In terms of revenue I can have a good size cohort of MSOT students. 2. OTD cohorts are limited to 18 in our program until we get a sense of the workload involved in producing meaningful capstone experiences and community capacity for said capstones. 3. This gives our students the option to transition at the end of the first year to move over to OTD if they are at the required academic standing and are able to meet the rigors and workload expectations of the OTD. Finally I think we ought to be cognizant of external forces and student debt crisis. OT salaries are stagnant in many parts of the country. The healthcare industry appears to be cost cutting where ever possible. If no one is collecting the data, should we collect this data? Should we aggregate the results in some meaningful way? Maybe none of the questions above are applicable.
