I did recall this discussion about slate blue several years ago.  However, our registrar found OT's color identified as "ink."

Last year we did a similar search and by process of elimination came up with slate blue.  We were unaware of AOTA recommendation.  We had no trouble changing our color to slate blue with the regalia company we were using as this was not a color used by anyone else on campus.  Is it your campus or the regalia company that is resisting?

Our Program Assistant attempted to purchase a slate hood but learned that we could not unless the Bureau of Academic Costumes approved the color for OT. This could only happen via the profession's association.
I approached AOTA President Florence Clark who had one of her faculty follow through and pursue this. The pursuit was successful and in 2011 it was announced in a Program Director's meeting that the official academic hood color for OT is slate blue.

Good afternoon everyone.

We will graduate our first class of OTD students in August and the question came up about academic hood color.  The only information I could find was a blog post from Neil in 2011 that stated the official degree color of OT was voted on in 1995 and was "slate blue".  I have looked at every official degree color wheel I can find and Occupational Therapy is not listed.  Does anyone know if "slate blue" is still correct?  Thank you for your assistance.
