RE: ACOTE/AOTA notices today

Hello all,
I think we should respond as a body to the issue in some way. It is clear AOTA and ACOTE disagree on this issue. It is also clear that the issue needs to be worked out in some other, perhaps less professionally embarrassing, way than it is currently. As I have said numerous times, ACOTE holds recognition as our accrediting body not AOTA. It would be negligent of me as a PD to follow any direction regarding accreditation from anyone but them. ACOTE reports to USDE who grants their recognition.....not to AOTA. We should ask that this matter be discussed with USDE and a resolution sought through them.
Best wishes

Subject: [OT-PD List - AOTA] - ACOTE/AOTA notices today
As chair of ALC I am curious if people feel the need for us to respond to the two notifications coming from ACOTE and AOTA today.
Regardless of your opinion about the mandates, and this post is not about that, instead I want to know if we should respond to the current behavior of sending opposing notifications out on the same day. This I believe is demonstrating a total lack of respect and creating uncertainty and misdirection that I am finding unacceptable. I am not sure if this is deliberate but it is beginning to feel that way to me.
I am happy to respond in anyway the group chooses and if you would like me to formally approach AOTA and/or ACOTE please feel free to email me at jenkinsg@uab.edu or through this listserv.
Again I am less concerned at this moment about the actual content of the notices and more about the way that business is being conducted and this group being left uncertain about what to do to move forward.
Best wishes
